This antique county map of Radnorshire is from a rare edition of "The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain" by John Speed, published in 1616 with Latin text on the verso. The maps were generally published uncoloured, but a few copies of the atlas were coloured at the time. This map is from one of those scarce editions.

An antique county map of Caernarvonshire published in the 1637 edition of William Camden’s 'Britannia.' Initially issued in 1607, Britannia was the first publication that contained a complete set of individual county maps of England and Wales. The maps were based on the earlier work of Christopher Saxton and John Norden and were engraved by William Hole and William Kip. Blank verso. Wide margins. Later colouring.

This miniature antique county map of Breconshire was produced as a playing card map by Robert Morden in 1676. This map together with the whole of Mordens pack of cards were republished in 1773 by H. Turpin in a book entitled " A Brief Description of England and Wales". Original outline colour and is trimmed to the plate edge and mounted, as issued. Very good impression. Clean condition.

The quarter compass rose remains from the previous state of the map, together with a solitary sea monster. The two sailing ships from the previous state have disappeared. Clean map with very wide margins. English text on verso.
