An antique lithograph by E. Walker from a drawing by J.C. Rowland ( John Cambrian Rowland) Published by T. Catherall, Eastgate Row, Chester and Day & Son, Lithrs. to the Queen'. Circa 1850 with original hand colouring. Jenny is shown wearing a silk Welsh hat and goffered cap; a long-sleeved bodice with a kerchief tucked into it; a check shawl folded lengthwise and tucked into the check flounced apron; a striped skirt and small shoes. She is knitting and carrying her tin can and is set in a landscape one mile from Llangollen. To the right of Jenny Jones, in the background, is a building, possibly a public house outside which is a man holding a drink above his head. This is said to be Edward Morgan in a pose similar to that in J.C. Rowland's print of Morgan. Printed beneath the image is some of the music to the song 'Jenny Jones' or the Maid of Llangollen' with words by the English comedian Charles (Charlie) Mathews (1776 - 1835) and music by John Parry (Bardd Alaw, 1776-1851) both of whom toured Wales. The melody was known in Wales by the name 'Cader Idris' and was printed in 'Parry's Welsh melodies'. This print together with the print of Edward Morgan is extremely rare.
