The battle of 1637 on Lérins Islands is one of the battles of the Thirty Years' War between the Spanish Catholic Monarchy and the Kingdom of France . This combined naval and land operations and mobilized 39 ships, 11 galleys, 6 fire ships, 12 flutes, and a large fleet of transport. The Spanish garrison was reduced and the French attacked with all their forces. On March 24, 1637 began the siege of the Lérins Islands and the beginning of the attack of five Spanish forts. After a siege of 45 days, the Spaniards from Sainte-Marguerite Island capitulate on 12 May and those of Saint- Honorat Island May 13. This plan is 1641.

Antique woodcut engravings entitled 'Linea imperatorum.' Shows images of emperors Philippicus, Anastasius, Theodosius tercius and Leo tercius. On the verso are three further woodcut engravings of Egidius abbas, Bonifacius achiepus, and S. Colonat, S. Kilian, S. Toman. Published in 'The Nuremberg Chronicle' which is an illustrated biblical paraphrase and world history that follows the story of human history related in the Bible; it includes the histories of a number of important Western cities. Written in Latin by Hartmann Schedel, with a version in German, translation by Georg Alt, it appeared in 1493. It is one of the best-documented early printed books an incunabulum and one of the first to successfully integrate illustrations and text. Overall age toning but no tears or repairs.

An antique plan of the Seige of Royan. Circa 1641. The Siege of Royan was a siege accomplished by the young French king Louis XIII in 1622, against the Protestant stronghold of Royan. This siege followed the Siege of Montauban, in which Louis XIII had failed against the Huguenot city. The siege started at the beginning of May 1622. After 6 days, despite support from La Rochelle, the city surrendered, the defenders withdrawing to La Rochelle with weapons and luggage, although they had to leave cannons and ammunition.

An antique copper engraving of the siege of Steenwijk in 1592, published by J. Blaeu in 1649 in 'Atlas van Loon' with original hand colouing. The Siege of Steenwijk was a siege that took place between 30 May - 5 July 1592 as part of the Eighty Years' War and the Anglo Spanish War by a Dutch and English force under Maurice of Orange. After a failed bombardment an assault was made in conjunction with the detonation of mines under important bastions and with two out of three successfully assaulted; the Spanish troops surrendered on 5 July 1592 and handed over the city to the Dutch and English army.

An antique line engraving published in the 'European Magazine' in 1822. The youngest son of Roger Kemble, and younger brother of John Philip Kemble, Stephen Kemble and Sarah Siddons, he was born at Brecon, South Wales. Like John Philip, he was educated at Douai. After returning to England in 1792, he obtained a job in the post office, but soon resigned to go on the stage, making his first recorded appearance at Sheffield as Orlando in As You Like It in that year. During the early part of his career as an actor he slowly gained popularity. His first London appearance was on 21 April 1794, as Malcolm to his brother's Macbeth. Ultimately he won independent fame, especially in such characters as Archer in George Farquhar's Beaux' Stratagem, Dorincourt in Hannah Cowley's Belle's Stratagem, Charles Surface and Ranger in Benjamin Hoadley's Suspicious Husband.
