An antique line engraving of 'Jedidiah Buxton. Aetat 49', farm labourer of Elmton, 1707-1772, who rose to prominence, although illiterate, because of his prodigious mental skills in arithmetic, being acknowledged by the Royal Society in 1754 born at Elmton, near Bolsover, in Derbyshire. Circa 1790.
