This miniature antique county map of Bedfordshie was produced as a playing card map by Robert Morden in 1676. This map together with the whole of Mordens pack of cards were republished in 1773 by H. Turpin in a book entitled " A Brief Description of England and Wales". Trimmed to the plate edge and mounted, as issued. Very good impression. Clean condition.

An antique map by Pieter Van den Keere. The maps of England and Wales by Van den Keere were based on those of Christopher Saxton. In 1627 publisher George Humble published later "England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland Described and Abridged... from a Farr Larger Voulume Done by John Speed" as a pocket edition. Thereby Van den Keere's works came to be known as "Miniature Speeds". Later hand colouring.

A county map of Bedfordshire from "An English Atlas or a Concise View of England and Wales..... " by Robert Sayer. Published 1st August 1787 with later hand colouring. Maps from this atlas are reprints of the forty eight county maps published by Kitchin and Jeffreys in 'The Small English Atlas' in 1749 and at the bottom of each, outside the border lines are notes showing Fairs, Market Days, Members returned to Parliamet etc. The shading around the boundary of most of the maps has the effect of giving the county the appearance of an island.

A miniature antique county map by John Cary and like all his work work, the engraving is extremely fine, and although it is a small map it is clearly defined. London, Published by G. & J. Cary, No. 86 St James's Str. Published in 1824 with original hand colouring. The title is at the top with a semicircular compass above. At the bottom there is a table of distances from London. They came about at a time when roads were being used as never before, and therefore the need for accurate road maps was imminent. Good margins and fine condition.

Initially issued in 1607, Britannia was the first publication that contained a complete set of individual county maps of England and Wales. The maps were based on the earlier work of Christopher Saxton and John Norden and were engraved by William Hole and William Kip. Blank verso. Wide margins beautiful early colouring.

This rare and curious antique map of Hertford, Bedford, Huntingdon and Cambridge was produced from the research of Aristide Michael Perrot and engraved by Adrien Migneret, was published in G. B. Depping's L'Angleterre. Ou Description Historique et Topographique Du Royaume Royaume Uni De La Grande-Bretagn in 1823. This map, a copper plate engraving, has original outline hand colouring. Some maps show a single county, but more often two or more counties were joined to form a group which is similar in industry, agriculture and terrain.

A fine detailed 18th centy map of the county embellished with an uncoloured title cartouche. A rococo cartouche beneath a coat of arms displays the dedication to the Duke of Bedford. Index Villaris in bottom right corner has a list of Places and their Chief Persons. Printed for John Bowles in Cornhil, Carington Bowles in St. Pauls Church Yard and Robt. Sayer in Fleet Street. Original outline hand colouring. A few repaired marginal tears. Circa 1763.
