An antique plan of the "Battle of Arcole 15th, 16th & 17th November, 1796" by Alexander Keith Johnston. F.R.G.S. published by William Blackwood and Sons in 1848 with original colouring. The plan shows the Cavalry, Infantry and Artillery of the French and Austrians. This battle saw a bold manoeuvre by Napoleon Bonaparte to outflank the Austrian army and cut its line of retreat. This French victory occurred during the third Austrian attempt to lift the Siege of Mantua during the French Revolutionary Wars.
