An antique plan of the "Battle of Rivoli" by Alexander Keith Johnston. F.R.G.S. published by William Blackwood and Sons in 1848 with original colouring. The plan shows the Cavalry, Infantry and Artillery of the French and Austrians. The Battle was a key victory in the French campaign in Italy against Austria. Napoleon defeated an attack of 28,000 Austrians. Rivoli further demonstrated Napoleon's brilliance and led to French occupation of northern Italy.
