A very decorative and finely engraved map of the 17th century Anglo-Saxon Heptarchy. Published by J. Blaeu in his 'Theatrum Orbis Terrarum' 1645-1662). Blaeu was one of the leading Dutch map makers during the period in which the Netherlands led the World in commerce, art, science and especially, cartography. The map is overall age toned but colours are still bright. A few marginal repairs in top margin and some archival tape applied to verso in one section to repair paper split. This split appears in the Irish Sea, to the left of the Isle of Man. A few other old repairs on verso.
