An antique line engraving by William Byrne after Richard Wilson. Published July 17th 1775 by John Boydell, Cheapside, London, with later hand colouring. Richard Wilson made his career in Italy and in London, but he was born in Penegoes near Machynlleth in 1713 or 1714. Later hand colouring. Nice condition but some yellowing outside image caused by previous mounting. Inscribed beneath English and French titles are the sentences "the Birth Place of Edward II. in North Wales." "ou le Roy Edouard II. était né, dans la Principauté de Galles."
