This antique map of The Champagne region of France was published in the rare 1636 English edition of Mercator's Atlas published by Henricus Hondius and Jan Jansson. As there were so few of these atlases published in English that maps from them are now understandably scarce. The map centres on the city of Chalons east to Verdun, west to Troyes, north to Dormans and south to Chaumont. North oriented to the right side of the map. The map is very detailed with forest, rivers, mountains, towns and villages. A decorative title cartouche with a coat of arms and a military French and German mile scale. To the lower left the royal arms of the Kingdom of France with 'Amsteldami Apud Joannem Jansonium'.
