An antique lithograph showing the gate before it was reopened. The gateway was bricked up in 1489 due to rebels burning the gates after murdering the Earl of Northumberland and you can still see the scorch marks. The rebels weren't happy when Henry VII increased taxes. The gateway wasn't reopened again until 1834. Narrow margins and one repaired tear in bottom left corner extending 2inches into printed area.
