An antique copper engraving of the South west view of the stone gatehouse and the Tudor half-timber house behind (showing two elaborate bays). Inscribed 'To the right Honble. and truely Noble Walter Lord Aston, Baron of Forfare in the Kingdom of Scotland. This 29 Table Shewing the Front of Tixall Hall with all dutifull acknowledgement of his Lordships many favours, is gratefully dedicated by R. P. L. L. D. Drawn and engraved by M. Burghers and published by Robert Plot in `The Natural History of Staffordshire,' in 1686 with later hand colouring. Side margins cropped very close to printed border.
