Humphrey Llwyds Cambriae Typus, is the earliest printed map to show Wales as a separate country. Compared to a modern map of Wales, there are a few defects and mistakes in the map including the Lleyn peninsula being distorted and bent towards the south, thus making North Wales look so much smaller and Aberdaron looks to be due north of Aberayron instead of far to the west of it. The Gower peninsula is not shown. The rivers Rheidol and Ystwyth have their names transposed. This map is from the original plate, in its slightly modified form. Published in Abraham Orteliuss Theatrum Orbis Terrarum. Circa 1591 - 1612 with Latin text and later hand colouring. No. 13 beneath text on verso.
