An antique map of southern Asia is based on Ptolemy and other ancient sources. Numerous small islands surround the huge island of Taprobana. Beyond the Sinus Magnus lies an indefinite landmass labeled Sinae that stretches off the map in the east. Engraved by Philippe Cluverius (1580-1622), geographer of Danzig. Published circa 1711 with later hand colouring. Vertical folds as issued. Very good condition.
