A highly decorative detailed map, superbly engraved by Cornelius Danckerts. It has an attractive title cartouche that is surmounted by royal arms, a compass rose and rhumb lines. The map shows the various invasions and internal battles from the Norman invasion in 1066 to 1588. The land battles are marked by opposing phalanxes of troops to the invasion places from Sea by attacking fleets. Published by George Humble circa 1627, with later hand colouring. Old repair to centrefold at the bottom and a repaired tear in top right corner, with archival tissue on verso.
