An antique map of Berkshire from the "Theatre of Great Britaine" by John Speed, published by Thomas Bassett and Richard Chiswell in 1676, with later hand colouring. English text to verso. Large vignette of Windsor Castle at the top and a small vignette at left depicts a the Battle at Radcott Bridge (1387) and a listing above it indicates who received the Order of Garter in 1350 (the highest order of chivalry in England). The map is also decorated with three coats of arms, compass rose, and distance scale
