Antique map by Gilles Robert de Vaugondy (1688-1766). This handsome map of Scotland delineates the counties and shows countless place names, harbours, islands, rivers, mountains, shoals, bays and firths. At lower left is a beautifully engraved rococo cartouche. This is the second state with Flannan Isle moved west of the Western Isles and the addition of St. Kilda. Two ancient lines of Roman fortifications, Hadrians Wall and the Antonine Wall, are also shown. Published circa 1768. Watermarked paper.
