An antique aquatint engraving by T. Medland after N. Pocock. Published in the "Naval Chronicle," September 1799, by Bunney and Gold, London. This view is taken looking eastward, up the Tagus, to where the Spanish warships captured by Jervis in the Battle of Cape St. Vincent (1797) are lying. The castle of Belim is on the left. The title of this print is missing. These are important, first-hand images of this turbulent period when the British navy fought the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812.
