An antique map of Florida engraved by J. & C. Walker eleven years before statehood. Shows Apalachicolato to the Perdido River, on the same scale in an inset. Many interesting place names. The southern half is virtually empty of settlement, but is bisected by a long Indian path. Locates C. Canaveral, Seminole Agency, Lake Macaco and the Everglades. The first railroad was chartered three years before this map, but we find no mention of it here. showing Monroe County, Mosquito County and the Seminole Indian Lands in the Southern Part of the State and naming the Everglades for the first time.
