This highly decorative antique county map of Northamptonshire has been embellished with armorials and views of Althorpe House, Northampton, Peterborough Cathedral and Queens Cross. It was first published in 1836 and subsequent editions were published by George Virtue. who later used the plates for publication in Barclay's Universal English Dictionary from 1842 until 1852. The plates were continuously amended to reflect the changes to the country by the rapidly growing railway network. This map includes railways and has been coloured by hand.

An antique county map Northamptonshire by William Smith from the "Anonymous Series" based on the work of Saxton and Norden believed to have been engraved by Jocodus Hondius. This map was published by John Overton in 1675 with later hand colouring. Overton's imprint preceded by the corrected initial 'J' can be seen in the key in the bottom left of the map. This map has been cropped back to the platemark and has been laid down on stiff paper. All os Smith's maps are considered scarce.

A miniature antique county map by John Cary and like all his work work, the engraving is extremely fine, and although it is a small map it is clearly defined. London, Published by G. & J. Cary, No. 86 St James's Str. Published in 1824 with original hand colouring. The title is at the top with a semicircular compass above. At the bottom there is a table of distances from London. They came about at a time when roads were being used as never before, and therefore the need for accurate road maps was imminent. Good margins and fine condition.

This rare and curious antique map of Northampton, Warwick, Leicester and Rutland was produced from the research of Aristide Michael Perrot and engraved by Adrien Migneret, was published in G. B. Depping's L'Angleterre. Ou Description Historique et Topographique Du Royaume Royaume Uni De La Grande-Bretagn in 1823. This map, a copper plate engraving, has original outline hand colouring. Some maps show a single county, but more often two or more counties were joined to form a group which is similar in industry, agriculture and terrain.

Initially issued in 1607, Britannia was the first publication that contained a complete set of individual county maps of England and Wales. The maps were based on the earlier work of Christopher Saxton and John Norden and were engraved by William Hole and William Kip. Blank verso. Wide margins beautiful early colouring. Some worm holes near the centrefold in the bottom margin.
