An antique woodcut engraving which was published in "The Illustrated London News" on September 10th, 1864 with later hand colouring. Engraving shows the Volunteers marching over a pontoon bridge which they had thrown across the River Aire, about 100 yards below Monk Bridge a little south of the Whitehall Road.
