An antique line engraving after Reginald Elstrack 1590. Printed an paper watermarked "J. Whatman 1805". Dic Whitington become mayor of London three times, in 1397, 1407 and 1420. Below the portrait is an inscription in English proclaiming his many good works. Top left: Arms of Whittington; bottom left: arms of the Worshipful Company of Mercers; top, two small shields displaying the merchant mark of Richard Whittington; bottom left: arms of Merchant Adventurers Company of London.
