A woodcut engraving published in "The Illustrated London News" on September 18th, 1852 with later hand colouring. The ship was launched at the Royal Dockyard, Pembroke, on 14 September 1852. On that day the Duke of Wellington died, and she was subsequently re-named in his honour and provided with a new figurehead in the image of the duke.
