Antique maps drawn by Rev. Philip Smith and engraved by J. & C. Walker, published under the superintendance of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge (London: Chapman and Hall, 1844) Originally printed on two separate large overlapping sheets which have been joined to form a single map, as intended by the publishers showing Europe, Scandinavia, the northern parts of Africa, Arabia, and India. As is the case with most maps from this series, there are numerous interesting items of information that have been added to the map and are particularly informative.
