An antique map of the county prepared by the antiquary Thomas Moule originally engraved by W. Schmollinger for 'English Counties Delineated' in 1833. Decorated with six coats of arms, an ornate gothic border, and a large vignette view of Carlisle., the present version, showing some development of the railway system, is dated to about 1840. Tipped with gold and silver paint with toning from previous mount. The line from Carlisle to Lancaster had not been opened. Fine condition. Includes free mounting on request.
