Aa antique map of Roman Britain, with the towns marked with their Roman names. Hadrian's Wall is shown running from Lugovallum (Carlisle) to Tinocellum (Tynemouth); In the title cartouche is a portrait of Britannia; other decorations includesailing ships and sea monsters This was one of three maps engraved by William Rogers for the 1600 edition of William Camden's 'Britannia', the fifth edition of the work, yet the first to contain maps. It was not until 1607 that a full suite of county maps was included; of the three maps by Rogers, this is the only one that was not copied and included. Nice condition with margins as shown.
