An antique sea chart from the "Great Britain's Coasting Pilot" by Captain Greenville Collins who was commissioned by Charles II in 1676 and appointed by Samuel Pepys (who was then Secretary to the Admiralty), to chart the coasts of Great Britain and he produced his 'Great Britain’s Coasting Pilot' in 1693. The last atlas was published in1764. Later hand colouring. An elaborate title cartouche includes a dedication from Collins to Captain Ralph Sanderson. Shows Bridlington, Scarborough, Hartlepool, Flamborough Head, Hornsea, Sewerby (Shursbey) with north orientated to the right.The detail includes soundings, shoals, rocks and anchorages.

A county map of Yorkshire by Jan Jansson, from 'Atlas Anglois, ou Description Général de L'Anglaterre....... ' Published in 1724 with original colouring. This is from a set of re-prints of thirty six of the counties of England by J. Janssonas re-issued by Schenk and Valk in 1683. Plain at the back. Oxidisation of some of the colouring has caused sections of the map to become brittle and there are a few old repairs to verso. Main towns and cities are highlighted in gold.

This rare and curious antique map of Yorkshire was produced from the research of Aristide Michael Perrot and engraved by Adrien Migneret, was published in G. B. Depping's L'Angleterre. Ou Description Historique et Topographique Du Royaume Royaume Uni De La Grande-Bretagn in 1823. This map, a copper plate engraving, has original outline hand colouring. Some maps show a single county, but more often two or more counties were joined to form a group which is similar in industry, agriculture and terrain.

An antique county map by John Cary and like all his work work, the engraving is extremely fine, and although it is a small map it is clearly defined. London, Published by G. & J. Cary, No. 86 St James's Str. Published in 1824 with original hand colouring. At the bottom right there is a table of distances from London. They came about at a time when roads were being used as never before, and therefore the need for accurate road maps was imminent. Has one horizontal and four vertical folds. The margin on the left side is trimmed as shown, otherwise fine condition.
