An antique aquatint engraving after the artist Thomas Rowlandson. The text beneath the engraving reads "The Elephant & Castle was first known in 1574 as the NEWINGTON THEATRE being the third theatre built in London when Shakespear's plays 'Hamlet', 'Taming of the Shrew', and several others were played there by him after which it was converted into a Tavern known as 'The Elephant' and was the resort of the Archers who came to practise at the Butts, in latter days it became the Posting House for coaches proceeding to important places in Kent and Surrey. By the side of the inn stood 'The House of God' Joanna Southcott's place of worship & opposite stood the handsome Almshouses built by the Fishmongers in 1619". Early 19th century engraving with original hand colouring. Overall age toned but otherwise good condition.

Antique woodcut engravings drawn by H. Petherick which were published in "The Illustretd London News" on March 1st, 1890. The illustrations depict old jobs or roles in London in olden times. They depict Turnpike Man, City toll taker at Algate, Touter at Doctor's Commons, Buy a broom girl, Bell Postman, Picker up of horse shoe nails in the street, Dustman with bell, Puppet show "Fantoccini", Ward Beadle going to inspect Weights and Measures, The Old Watchman, Dancing Bear, and Cart drawn by dogs.

An antique Chromolithograph by the Leighton Brothers showing the International Exhibition building in Cromwell Road, London, which was published in a "Supplement to The Illustrated London News, May, 24th, 1862." This building later became the site of the South Kensington Museum. The buiolding was 1152 feet long with two crystal domes, each of which measured 260 feet high, and cost £300,000 to construct.

Scarce copper engraved view of a royal procession from a Vue d'Optique. The engraving was designed to be viewed in a special apparatus that gave the view a strong 3-D impression. The title at top is engraved in reverse and another title in engraved at bottom for use outside the viewer. These prints were only produced for a short period of time, as they were replaced with the smaller steroviewer.

An antique handcoloured lithograph of "Entry to the Strand from Charing Cross" drawn and lithographed by Thomas Shotter Boys. Printed by Charles Hullmandel. Published in 1842 in 'London as it Is'. The portico of St Martin in the Fields can be seen from this viewpoint. Beside it is Morley's Hotel and beyond that the corner turret of Nash's West Strand improvement. South of the Strand with twin lead-capped turrets is Northumberland House. Inscribed on the pedestal of King Charles I's statue is 'T.S. Boys 1841'. To the left of this is a water cart laying the summer dust, a hansom cab and a pair of equestrians.

An antique copper engraving of "The Monument" by Sutton Nicholls giving an interesting view of the Monument and Fish Street Hill, near London Bridge. Designed by Wren to commemorate the Great Fire of London which broke out at Farriner's bakehouse on Pudding Lane on the night of September 2nd 1666. The engraving shows the Doric order of the column which was erected on the spot the fire broke out. Circa 1753.
