This is a rare little antique county map of Sussex, together with distance table engraved by Van Langeren and published by Thomas Jenner in Mathew Simons's "A Direction for the English Traveller" in 1657. This map is the same as the one in the 1643 map except for the fact that the space beneath the maps are filled with a list of the hundreds in three columns and sometimes continued on the verso. The names of the counties and pagination are added above the plates. The list of Hundreds has been trimmed with some loss.

This atlas contained fifty four of these circular maps which measure 6cms in diameter. Beneath each map is an account of the county which includes its size, number of towns, parishes, houses and population and details of rivers, terrain, industry and products of the county.

This miniature antique county map of Sussex was produced as a playing card map by Robert Morden in 1676. This map together with the whole of Mordens pack of cards were republished in 1773 by H. Turpin in a book entitled " A Brief Description of England and Wales". Trimmed to the plate edge and mounted, as issued. Very good impression. Clean condition.

An extremely rare miniature county map which was published in John Bill's "The Abridgement of Camden's Britania..." in 1626 (which was the only edition of this now rare atlas ). These were the first county maps to show longitude and latitude and look rather like Pieter van den Keere's maps but are much more difficult to find and sought after by collectors.

An antique map by Pieter Van den Keere. The maps of England and Wales by Van den Keere were based on those of Christopher Saxton. In 1627 publisher George Humble published later "England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland Described and Abridged... from a Farr Larger Voulume Done by John Speed" as a pocket edition. A miniature antique county map by John Cary and like all his work work, the engraving is extremely fine, and although it is a small map it is clearly defined. London, Published Jun 1st, 1817 by J. Cary, No. 181, Strand with original hand colouring. The title is at the top with a semicircular compass above. At the bottom there is a table of distances from London. They came about at a time when roads were being used as never before, and therefore the need for accurate road maps was imminent. Good margins and fine condition.

This rare and curious antique map of Sussex and Surrey was produced from the research of Aristide Michael Perrot and engraved by Adrien Migneret, was published in G. B. Depping's L'Angleterre. Ou Description Historique et Topographique Du Royaume Royaume Uni De La Grande-Bretagn in 1823. This map, a copper plate engraving, has original outline hand colouring. Some maps show a single county, but more often two or more counties were joined to form a group which is similar in industry, agriculture and terrain.

An antique map 'In which the situation of Churches, Noblemen & Gentlemens Seats, principal Roads with their adjacent Parks, Forrests, Commons, Rivers Brooks Rills, &c mostly laid down from the Authors own Observations & by him Engraved with uncommon Labour and Accuracy ; Also All the Great Roads leading from London to Brighthelmston very distinctly exhibited at one View, with their Principal Branches, Intersections &c with an exact Topographical representation of the South Downs from their very Northern Extremity to the Sea Coast and all Interjacent Country from Eastbourn on the East Coast to Worthing on the West'. Two vertical folds and paper slightly yellow, grubby with some small repairs to verso. Published by J. Edwards in 1817. Early colour.
